Power Tools – Benefits of a Cordless Toolkit

The benefits of cordless power tools are many and I am sure there are not too many workers or DIY experts who would prefer a return to the days of all tools being attached to several (and usually not enough) feet of wires, cables or cords. Simply put, cordless power tools make everything much easier, provided you have remembered to have a charge up session beforehand! No worries about tripping over excessive lengths of wire, no worries, half way up a step ladder that you are about to get all tangled up, just charge up and get drilling, or whatever the tool may be required to do. Makita power tools can even take the cordless benefits a step further with some of the latest toolkits which contain multiple tools as well as a few helpful accessories. One such kit is the Makita LCT303W cordless toolkit. What will you find in the kit? First of all, you get the DF330D, which is a white 10.8v 10mm drill drive with keyless chuck. Also included is the TD090D, which is a white 10.8v impact driver. To make the job in hand easier, you also get a handy LED torch which makes viewing all those nooks and crannies much easier. However, it wouldn’t be much of a kit without the batteries and charger, so thankfully these are all included too and each of the components arrive in the sleek looking carry case which makes transporting all the gear from one job to another much easier!

Foam Fire Extinguishers – When Should You Use Them?

How do you pick out a foam extinguisher from the crowd? Well, as we know, most fire extinguishers in the UK are red but if you look a little closer, you will notice that each extinguisher has a coloured panel just above the instructions (although a water extinguisher looks all red, because its panel is red too). The foam extinguisher has a cream panel or label above the instruction set and in most cases will actually display the word “Foam” to make it even easier to identify. This particular kind of fire extinguisher is perhaps the most versatile of them all in regards to the different sorts of fires it can tackle. As well as being able to tackle the same fires as a water extinguisher, such as wood and paper fires it can also be used to deal with flammable liquid fires. You may notice, that a foam extinguisher is often smaller than its counterparts and this is largely due to the fact that it is more efficient when tackling fire, allowing for a smaller size, which in turn makes them a little easier to handle and operate. Learning as much as possible about fire safety and indeed about all the different kinds of fire extinguishers should be of the utmost importance, as it may one day arm you with the knowledge to not only save your own life but perhaps those of your friends, family and work colleagues too. So, next time you walk past a fire extinguisher at work, take a few seconds to check it what it’s for and what it can do.
